The Market Technicians Association (MTA)
The not-for-profit MTA's objective is to educate the investment community and MTA members in technical analysis. Today, MTA’s total membership is over 3,000, with members located in 61 countries. Members include technical analysts, portfolio managers, traders, investment advisors, market letter writers and others involved in the technical aspects of equities, futures, options, fixed income securities, currencies, international markets, derivatives and other vehicles.
The CMT designation is the culmination of a certification process in which candidates are required to demonstrate proficiency in a broad range of technical analysis of the financial markets. The MTA is responsible for the creation, oversight, administration and regulation of the CMT designation. The CMT is the only technical analysis designation recognized by the United States’ Financial Industry Regulatory Authority (FINRA) as a “Series 86” exemption upon passing levels 1 and 2 of the CMT exam.
